This link talks about how the movie v for vendetta and the masked man are adopted by anonymous as an icon of hope.I feel this shows how certain cultures can adopt certain aspect of others and work hand in hand to put a message across. The message that is trying to be communicated by wearing these masks is to portray themselves as a movement that is trying to make the future better and is trying to stand up against corruption of the highest level by protecting there identity as they do this !
